"Bernardus Lodge, Carmel Valley, CA - We stayed here for one night in July of 2007. One night here provides a week's worth of relaxation. Not cheap -- my girlfriend paid $250 for one night, I think -- that that includes buckets of wine and mountains of snacks, plus all tips. This is a new, small resort built around a charming, formal croquet field and two plush pools. Great small weight room, shining staff, posh finishings in the room, and a lavish bathroom the size of a post office. Great location in a good-weather valley next to the Carmel-By-The-Sea fog fest. Recommended for special celebrations, like an anniversary. A find for its quality."
