"Reba Farms Inn - Bedford, Virginia USA - I planned a romantic suprise get away for my husband. The night before we were to arrive my 6 year old son became violently sick and we had to reschedule.
I called first thing Saturday morning to explain our situation and to reschedule. Instead of a courteous response from the husband like.. "I am very sorry about your son's sickness, what can we do to work this out" I only receive the cold response of... "We are a small business and can not eat the cost!!!"
Being reasonable I understand that a fee to reschedule would have been appropriate. Over the weekend I waited for a return phone call by one of the owners since I was told I would receive a return call by the husband. He stated he needed to talk with his wife and would call me back with what the two of them decided.
This I find unacceptable and highly rude. My husband and I own and operate a small business ourselves and would find ourselves short of local clients if we treated a client is this matter, no matter who is right or wrong. We feel the local code of ethics and hospitality deserve our primary focus and then comes the business. It is a shame this family does not hold to these same standards of neighborliness.
